Inception is AMAZING!
I haven’t been this excited about a film in several weeks. In fact, we haven’t been to the theater in several weeks because the playbill has been so horrendous. I mean, Despicable Me is a possibility for next week, but the rest? Nothing at all exciting, until the end of the month when The Little Fockers arrives.
Yet, my daughter and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Inception. Just knowing that Christopher Nolan was its writer and director was enough to let us know that we wanted to go. After all… The Prestige, Memento, The Dark Knight… need I say more? Those are some of the best films in the last decade. And all completely interesting. Some of you may disagree with me about The Dark Knight, but come on… for a Batman movie, it was pretty incredible. Right?
And in Incepton, Nolan didn’t disappoint. He was both writer and director, and he put together an amazing cast — Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, and Marion Cotillard, who you might remember as Dillinger’s girlfriend in last year’s Public Enemy. Tom Berenger, Michael Caine, and Lukas Haas all had small parts, as well.
But the most surprising actor to me was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a guy who you know you’ve seen before in a film, but can’t really place him and you don’t know his name. I don’t imagine I’ll be forgetting it now that I know what it is, as he did a great job as Arthur, a partner to Cobb played by DiCaprio. Very believable and you should see his resume! It’s like a mile long. Who knew?
The movie really isn’t about acting, though DiCaprio is quite capable, as is Ellen Page. The movie is about your brain. Who’d have thought that a movie about your sub-conscious mind could be so damned thrilling? Interesting possibilities, no doubt, but this is something I’ve thought about since first reading Descartes‘ Meditations back in college. I don’t want to go into much here or it will ruin the movie for you (and I recommend that you see this one at the theater), but you’ll sit on the edge of your set throughout the film.
Just let me say that it’s amazing!
And just when you think all is lost… You know the rest. Or, do you?
Five stars for story, acting, directing, and a really great time. Buy a large popcorn. You’re going to need it.
Inception…
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in a sci-fi thriller as as a skilled thief who can steal valuable secrets from someone’s subconscious….
Besides the actions that keeps you around the edge within your seat, the romance and principle of dreams vs. fact entirely produce this dvd. The acting in all factors was immaculate. I got chills every time Marion Cotillard arrived on screen, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt altered my opinion of him on this dvd, he did extraordinary stunts (without having a double) and did an awesome job as Leo’s right-hand man. And as for Leo, effectively, have you actually observed a overall performance in which he does badly? His sensible relationship with Mal within your motion picture coupled with his conniving tricks to obtain into people’s minds blew me apart.
That is genuinely an awesome motion picture that may trigger you to think about it and analyze the moment its finished. You are going to quite possibly want to observe it once more to focus about the particulars and storyline since the visuals and activity scenes might possibly distract you from totally grasping everything. Anyone who rates this film poorly does not enjoy extremely complicated stories and characters.
Hi Nan,
Yep… I believe you’re right. It’s a movie that I’ll watch more than once, for sure. That’s so true about the complication of the story. Most people I have spoken with about it said they had trouble following it, though I know you had to pay attention, it was pretty clear. Still, there’s so much to consider that re-considering those aspects that your brain glossed over the first time would be so worth it, eh?
Thanks for your comment!

A film that Leo did badly? Hmm… Nope. Can’t think of one, actually.
Thanks for your comment. Agree, except it’s not on DVD just yet.
I already have it lined up in my queue at Netflix, though.

That plot summary only covers the basics of this pretty complicated story, but to describe every plot detail would take away the magic of this film you must see yourself to believe. DiCaprio is good in his role, but unlike many other films he has starred in, this is perhaps his only role where his character alone does not carry the weight of the movie on his shoulders or share it equally with one other co-star. Instead, this great ensemble cast teams together to make this movie work, just as their characters collaborate to pull off such a unique heist. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, and Tom Hardy are especially good in their roles.
I completely agree. The team works very well together.
Great film, but to give too much away would ruin it for others. Can’t do that!
